Description
Social media is an astonishingly large and mostly unmoderated global social experiment; maybe the largest in human history. The book discusses the impact of social media on the mental health of children and adolescents, the so-called generation Z (1997-2012) and generation Alpha (2013-2024). Although there is considerable politicized pontification about this issue, it is mostly free of grounded research and/or coherent theory. The authors have aimed to collect, synthesize, and share available materials available on the topic, organized into evidence provided by research and scientific studies.
The book is to be an important element of the research base for the sharing of evidence of the adverse impact of social networking sites on the mental health of children and young people. It is aimed at researchers and policy-makers in the field.
