Description
This book presents a significant empirical investigation into the impact of transitional justice mechanisms on national reconciliation in post-conflict states, using the Côte d'Ivoire as a case study.
The findings underscore the crucial role of transitional justice mechanisms in national reconciliation. When national trials are combined with the International Criminal Court trial, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), and reparation programs, it shows a much higher positive impact on national reconciliation.
The research strongly argues that the holistic approach to transitional justice, which combines various mechanisms that complement each other in their implementation and functions, is the most effective way to promote national reconciliation in post-conflict states. This conclusion is based on the comprehensive analysis of the data collected from the case of Côte d'Ivoire.
The key audience of the book researchers and students in law studies, peacebuilding studies, and transitional justice; as well as policy-makers and administrators in governments and NGOs.
