Description
In an age marked by nihilism and existential unease, where does modern humanity turn for meaning? *Conflict and Harmony* argues that classical moral philosophy holds more substantive answers than modern psychology or prescriptive self-help. Through a series of incisive essays, each grounded in a seminal work of Western thought—from Plato and St. Augustine to Unamuno and C.S. Lewis—this book explores the perennial tensions that define the human condition: freedom versus necessity, faith versus reason, and community versus the individual. The book diagnoses the spiritual ailments of modernity—cynicism, individualism, and the dehumanizing potential of technology—while reasserting the enduring power of wisdom and knowledge as the highest human aspirations. This work is an essential read for scholars and students of philosophy, political theory, and theology, and for anyone seeking a serious intellectual engagement with the meaning of contemporary life.
