Description
International Economic Organizations such as the World Trade Organization, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank wield immense influence over the global landscape, particularly within the developing world. This timely monograph offers a comprehensive and critical examination of the multifaceted roles these institutions play in shaping the economic trajectories of developing nations. The book explores the complex challenges and persistent controversies surrounding their policies, from structural adjustment programs to trade liberalization and debt relief, analyzing the impacts on sovereignty, inequality, and sustainable development. Covering both academic theory and the practical realities faced by policymakers and industry leaders, the author provides a nuanced assessment of the effectiveness and future prospects of these key global players. 'International Economic Organisations and the Developing World' is an essential resource for academics, postgraduate students, and researchers in development economics, international relations, and global governance. It will also be of significant interest to professionals in governmental and non-governmental organisations and international finance who engage with the economies of the Global South.
