Description
This major new book is intended to introduce undergraduate and graduate students and researchers to nonprofit organization management and governance responsibilities. It discusses the emerging uses of technology and risk management strategies for nonprofit organizations, along with best practices for financial management and strategy.
Few texts exist in nonprofit management. The field is deserving of specific and specialist treatment, not as a subsection of general business and management, or public finance. This is a substantial and comprehensive textbook, dedicated to this large and growing field. It looks at definitions and legal structures; all aspects of leadership, management and governance, including board responsibilities; financial management and fundraising, including grant writing; aligning operational programs to a mission; technology; likely future trends, opportunities and threats.
As well as an increasing number of business students interested in serving in the charity and nonprofit sector, there are many would-be entrepreneurs with a passion for delivering vital community services who want to start or run a nonprofit organization. This is a singular and valuable resource for learning, teaching and practise.
