Description
The financial health of local governments is of vital importance. *Measurement of Local Government Revenue Diversification* is a comprehensive volume dedicated to the rigorous assessment of fiscal performance through the lens of revenue diversification. This work introduces and systematically examines a range of count-based indices of variation, including the Gleason, Margalef, Menhinick, and newly developed Guajardo indices. Using actual revenue data from state and local governments, the book provides a practical, step-by-step guide to applying each index, enabling reesearchers to conduct their own robust analyses. It also includes a chapter on index validation, ensuring the methods are not just theoretically sound but empirically reliable. This essential text is an valuable resource for academicians, researchers, and graduate students in public administration, public policy, and public finance who seek to understand and improve the fiscal resilience of governments.
