Description
People often express AI ethics through principles like fairness, transparency, privacy, accountability, and human oversight. Yet organisations still struggle to convert those principles into decisions, work practices and remedies. This book explains why the central problem is a responsibility translation gap. It develops an AI Ethics in Practice Framework that links ethical commitments to mandates, decision rights, situated judgement, protected voice, accountable action and organisational learning. Drawing on AI ethics, organisation studies, professional practice, quality management and current governance instruments, the book analyses fairness, explainability, surveillance, automation, responsibility gaps, leadership, dissent and generative AI. Its distinctive contribution is to show how responsible AI depends not only on compliant systems but on institutional conditions that enable people to understand, challenge, change and, where necessary, stop AI-mediated work. Fifteen practical tables translate the argument into review questions and safeguards for scholars, students, leaders and professionals.
