Description
While the cultural evolution of human consciousness is a well-explored field, Evolving Human Community and Conscious Mind offers a new perspective. The book proposes a novel, emphatically social scientific framework rooted in Deweyan pragmatism. The authors introduce a systematic methodological relationalist approach to argue that human consciousness is not an innate, individualistic property of the brain, but a coevolutionary product of community and communication. Tracing the development of the mind from the origins of social learning to the contemporary challenges posed by artificial intelligence, the book makes a compelling case for an 'evolutionary sociology'. This interdisciplinary work is essential reading for scholars and advanced students in sociology, philosophy of mind, evolutionary anthropology, and communication studies who are seeking a sophisticated, socially-grounded theory of the human mind.
