Description
Even in a time when voices from both the natural and social sciences seem to have made some of the main tenets from religion seem implausible, religions remain a strong force across the world. Sometimes - and even often - not always a force for good.
Is it possible that, regarding religion, the voices that argued that religious belief is an illusion, or even a delusion, were wrong all along? Is it possible that there exists a rational basis for religious thought that makes it possible to assess specific tenets that originate in religions? That is the basic idea of this text.
In this important new book, the author develops an original, new theory on the origin of religious thought from the perspective of psychoanalysis, thereby seeking to explain its very nature, and to re-read sacred texts in light of these insights, with a view to ultimately unveil their esoteric (i.e. hidden) meanings.
